To avail of the tariff structures, you need to connect your wind turbine to the grid. Depending on where you are located and who your energy supplier is, different criteria will apply. In all cases, you will need to apply to your energy supplier for permission to connect to the grid.

In the Republic of Ireland, again, the type and size of your micro generator will determine the criteria for connection. Under the ESB Support Initiative for Micro-generation, on a single phase connection, the ESB will allow a 6kW system and on a three phase connection, an 11kW system is permitted. To apply, customers need to complete an NC6 form and return it to ESB Networks.
To connect larger systems on single or three phase connections, customers need to complete the more detailed NC5 form and return it to ESB Networks. Additional conditions apply to this type of connection.
