Description:
The project involved the construction of the civil engineering works
associated with the outfall pipeline from the sewerage treatment plant. Trench
excavation required for drilling and blasting of 250m part of the trench.
The works involved the construction of the following:
-
900 mm diameter sea outfall pipeline which extends out 2km under the bed of
the Irish Sea
-
Diffuser placed by divers operating from barge and placement of scour
protection using concrete
-
All pipeline fabrication and jointing works were completed 10 miles from site.
Pipeline had to be towed to site. Trench siltation meant that all pipe strings
had to be joined in trench at trench base level
