SIAC Construction Acquires Graham Wood Structural Limited

(3rd September 2007) – SIAC is pleased to announce that the SIAC Construction Group has acquired Graham Wood Structural Limited, a steel fabrication business based in Lancing, West Sussex with a technical office in Southampton.

Established over 40 years ago, Graham Wood Structural is one of the UK’s leading structural engineering companies serving primarily London and the South of England. The company designs, fabricates and erects and extensive range of steelwork for both new build and refurbishment projects. Its turnover exceeds Stg£20 million, fabricating 12,000 tonnes of steel per year with a workforce of more than 100 employees.

The acquisition complements SIAC’s existing UK steel fabrication business, SIAC Tetbury Steel and further strengthens our presence in the UK market. The Group now operates three state of the art fabrication workshops in Portarlington, Tetbury and Lancing with the capability to fabricate more than 35,000 tonnes of structural steel annually.

Graham Wood Structural will operate on a stand alone basis within the SIAC Construction Group under the continued management of its previous owners Russell Thomson (Managing Director) and William Hayden (Finance Director). The company will benefit from the strength of the SIAC Group allowing it to target larger and more complex projects proposed for central London and the 2012 Olympics.
