Design and build for the installation of MOVA operated traffic light system and widening of Dunkettle Interchange. Construction of an additional lane along 3 KM of the N25 Dual Carriageway.

A NRA funded D & B infrastructural project, SIAC undertook the design and construction of the Dunkettle Interchange traffic alleviation scheme on behalf of Cork City Council.

The project was divided into two distinct sections, widening the carriageway from two to three lanes and installation of traffic signals at the interchange and the widening of the N25 from four to six lanes between the Dunkettle Interchange and Little Island.

The project was completed within the 28 week contract programme and the benefits to the commuters of Cork have been very well received.

A particularly challenging element of the project was the accommodating the high existing volume of traffic throughout the works, in a safe and efficient manner whilst endeavouring to cause minimal disruption to road users, which included, new ducting, drainage, gantry mounted traffic signals, signage and road users.
