Description:
SIAC's work commenced in August 2006 and was completed in September 2007. The
scope of the contract included the replacement of the existing steel bridge
with a new RC bridge while keeping two-way traffic at all times.
The first phase of the works involved the reinforcing of the existing
roofpath to take traffic loading and the installation of a temp footbridge.
The second phase was the construction of half the bridge starting with rock
bearings piles anchored in the canal bed rock right through to granite paving
on the approaches.. The third phase was the construction of the second half of
the bridge and the installation of two 40m spanning stainless steel Arches on
each side of the bridge.
