Description:
The first phase of the O'Connell Street Regeneration, called the Central
Plaza, is a special civic space. Safety and comfort of use are integral parts
of the design.
As part of that refurbishment, measures for the disabled and visually impaired
have been put in place including tactile paving at controlled crossing points,
sound signalling at controlled crossing points and flush curbs for the
physically disabled at controlled crossing points. The detailed works included;

The repaving of the east and west footpaths, the northbound and southbound
carriageway and the central median in front of the G.P.O. with granite flags

The repaving of the east and west footpaths and the central median at Lower
O'Connell St. between Prince's St. North and Abbey St. with granite paving
flags

The laying of new flexible pavement on the northbound and southbound
carriageways of Lower O'Connell St. between Prince's St. North and Abbey St

Reconfiguration of existing carriageway incorporating revised vehicle lanes
and increased pedestrian footpaths areas
