Description:
Creation of a new bus and cycle corridor into Cork's centre from the west side
of the city. To achieve this, the existing carriageway had to be realigned and
resurfaced using Ha Telit Asphalt Reinforcement Grid to prevent the cracking
that would otherwise occur when overlaying a concrete surface with
tarmaccadam. Extensive traffic management was an integral requirement of the
project which included 22,000 sq. metres of carriageway reconstruction and
overlay.
The project incorporated a complete upgrade of the existing drainage
system and new ducting was laid along the length of the carriageway. New
footpaths were also constructed, complete with high specification railings and
street lighting to enhance the already beautiful surroundings of the Lee
Fields.
