Description

The Meencrumlin Water Treatment Works, located in Ballybofey Co. Donegal provides drinking water to approximately 450 square kilometres and 35,000 customers and treats 460,000 ltrs of water every hour (11Ml/d). This project consisted of both the design by the contractor and the execution of the works in the following areas:

To increase the existing water treatment production by means of constructing a new flashmixer structure, new settlement tanks, two new filter tanks, and associated works whilst maintaining drinking water quality for the end customers at all times.

The upgrade of the existing treatment building to provide a new improved chemical dosing system and control room, which consisted of the construction of new chemical bunded tanks, new soda ash silo, alum provisions and intensive refurbishment works to the existing building.

To construct new sludge dewatering facilities which consisted of the conversion of existing lagoons to washwater recovery tanks, the construction of new portal frame sludge dewatering building, installation of a new sludge press, sludge thickening tanks, sludge holding tanks and balancing tanks. Construct all access roads and walkways, drainage and landscaping works to the scheme.
